Cuz baby, there's nothin like

Northern California

When you hear Northern California, what do you think of...? The Bay? Silicon Valley?

I adventured through NorCal 3 years ago when I first began The Unpopular Black. I was on a 2-month solo road trip letting my heart lead the way and I found NorCal to be one of the most magical looking and feeling places I had ever seen. They looked like places from Disney's imagination. I want to share that with us. Black folks need to know that magical places are real.

If you weren't aware, I am obsessed with natural hot springs. They are these wonderful little pools of water that are geothermically heated and found in nature. This adventure will be based around driving through the scenic Highway 395, vibing at Mammoth Lakes, hiking through Sequoia National Park, and relaxing in nature's made hot springs.

Let me begin by saying, you do not need to have any experience adventuring in order to join. Everyone will receive a preparation and packing guide. This trip won't be technical at all. Just follow my lead and enjoy the ride.

Disclaimer: The photos and videos are for marketing purposes to show where we will be going and why more Black folks need to be in nature because I didn't find ANY of Black folks in these spots.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive

 - Fly into Oakland or SF and meet at the Airbnb

Day 2 - Travertine hot springs - Bodie ghost town - Devil's Postpile (if open) - Mammoth Lakes for sunset

 - We'll hit the road from the Oakland area super early, (like 2 am) in order to get to Travertine close to sunrise. We will probably stay up to 3 hours. Next, we'll head to Devil's Postpile which is a really phenomenal geological site. Afterward, we'll head to Mammoth Lakes to post up at the lake to chill, hike, picnic, all the things until sunset where we get to catch those views.

Day 3 - Hot Creek Geological site @ Sunrise - Wild Willy’s hot springs - Crowley Columns - Mobius Arch - Sequoia

 - Hot Creek is less than 30 minutes away from Mammoth so we'll get to sleep in more. Wild Willy's hot springs are right around the way so we'll pop on over there for a few hours. Once we're all pruney and relaxed, we'll head to Sequoia National Park which is where we will find some of the largest trees in the world. The whole park is dreamy AF.

Day 4 - Remington hot springs @ sunrise - San Luis Obispo

 - Wake up and hit the road in time to get to Remington by sunrise. We'll head to SLO when we're ready and either vibe on the beach or take surf lessons.

Day 5 - Head to SF - Okay byeeee

 - Wake up and head back to Oakland/SF to head on out.

Dates

It is better to adventure during the weekday so there are fewer crowds as well as starting early AF in the day.  When you are adventuring in nature, things can get crowded easily and since COVID, people are finding their love for nature. Let's find or continue yours.
